Miami, FL (prHWY.com) December 14, 2011 - BROOKLYN, N.Y., December,15, 2011 -- According to an article appearing recently in USA Today, there is a new computer program undergoing study that has the potential to analyze breast cancer images and predict patient survival more accurately than pathologists by eliminating some of the subjective elements during analysis. The computer program, called C-Path (short for Computational Pathologist), "provides information above and beyond what the physician provides, using the same data," claims professor of computer science at Stanford University Daphne Koller. Koller is also a senior author of the study. It is hoped that at some point in the future, C-Path will be able to assist pathologists in deducing the prognosis of patients afflicted with breast cancer.

More opportunities for different types of life insurance coverage are currently available to the survivors of breast cancer thanks to technological innovations that have increased early detection and, as a result, survival rates. Better treatment options can also be credited with the willing of life insurance companies to adjust their underwriting policies when it comes to offering reasonably-priced coverage to breast cancer sufferers.

Additionally, this evolution in life insurance underwriting makes it possible for individuals with a history of breast cancer to qualify to receive universal life insurance quotes earlier after they complete their treatment than ever before. Provided the patient has been given a clean bill of health, there is the possibility, in certain cases, for patients to qualify for life insurance coverage even as soon as their last treatment day. In other situations, patients will need to wait to qualify for coverage, anywhere from 1 to 5 years post-treatment.

Standard rates of differing types of life insurance policies have been extended to breast cancer survivors since 2005 by some life insurance carriers, and more and more companies are getting on board as positive advancements in treatment continue to be made.
