Prestigious Izmir Dance Academy Goes

Arman Esen Dans Akademi announces the introduction of "Zumba®" classes in December 2011

Izmir, Turkey (prHWY.com) December 9, 2011 - Arman Esen Dans Akademi is to start twice weekly Zumba® classes at its Bornova, Izmir, Center. Classes are Monday-Wednesdays during the day and Tuesdays-Thursdays in the evening.


Gizem Esen, Manager of the Academy and Zumba® teacher, is very excited about the new classes. "I've been going backwards and forwards to Istanbul for months during training. Now we have finally opened courses it's like a dream come true."


Her husband, Principal Teacher Arman Esen, is equally excited, "Dance isn't just about performance. It's also about keeping healthy and fit. We already have Latin Dance Fitness classes and Zumba® is in the same category of class."


So, what is Zumba®?

"It was 'accidentally' created in the 90's by a Colombian fitness instructor called Alberto "Beto" Perez," explains Deniz Gokengin, Gizem's Zumba® co-teacher. "It combines high energy Latin and international beats with having fun and getting fit. And you can burn up to 900 calories per session. Much more fun than the Dukan Diet!"



Do people have to be able to dance like Fred Astaire?

"No way," says Gizem. "We have all levels of dancers, from people with two left feet to those who studied ballet as children. You only do as much as you can - there is no pressure to become a Bolshoi star overnight. And the students here are amazing, they help each other so much. "



What has the feedback been like?

Gizem again: "The feedback has been great. We had two free sessions to introduce Zumba® and we were packed. If it carries on like this we'll have to open more courses!"
