Is Violence, Including War, The Solutions Of Our Problems?

Is Violence is the only solutions to our Problems.

Woodbridge, VA (prHWY.com) October 18, 2010 - We belong to a society in which domestic violence is a crime, duels are outlawed, employers are required to guarantee harassment and discrimination free environment, animal abuse is punishable and where you can be held for psychological evaluation, if destroying trees. The reason for these laws and practices are obvious. We want to keep our society safe, guarantee the safeguard of basic human rights for everyone, and because we understand that these violence is inhuman and uncivilized and nothing is solved by these acts.

Rather, these behaviors just complicate the situation. For example, domestic violence can cause permanent and lifelong trauma to kids, create a perpetual hate and reaction for the person / persons causing violence, can cause injury, disability and even death. It can break and tear down families for ever and grow a generation of kids who are more likely to be violent as adults. The abused person can carry a grudge, hate and psychological issues for life that may cause serious problems for abuser, as well as for other related and unrelated people who may come in contact with abused person, including, relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers. In addition to this an abusive person is most likely to not keep his abuse confined into his home and is very likely to abuse other related and unrelated people, who may come in his / her contact. Same is the case with other modes of prohibited violence like duels, on job harassment and discrimination and all others methods and forms of violence. Their effects are far reaching, serious, long lasting, and very hard to heal and treat. That is why our culture, traditions and laws want to and try to stop all types and forms of violence, whether physical, psychological or behavioral, direct or indirect.
But, it is totally incomprehensible to me that in the same society that hates violence so much, the worst form of violence, the war, is still just not acceptable, but in many cases desirable. War causes all the above mentioned problem and adverse effects and tones of other problems and consequences, at a much larger and much more serious scale. I mean, people carry scars, wounds, grudges and losses from war to generations over generations, for centuries and even thousands of years.

Hindus still complain about atrocities done by Buddhist conqueror Ashoka, thousands of years back. Jews are still called Christ killers, Muslims still have grudges regarding crusades, Jews still considers the wounds caused by Nazis as fresh and Buddhists still tell stories to their children about killings done by Hindus. When a criminal kills a person, then at least for a moment he is not thinking that victim is a human being just like him. He probably has kids, spouse, siblings, parents, neighbors, relatives, coworkers and friends, who will be traumatized forever and who will carry grief and grudge against him. Some of them may even try to take revenge. There is law, law enforcement and justice system, that is very likely to catch and punish him / her. That will cause serious trauma to his relatives, friends, neighbors and coworkers that they may have to carry for the rest of their lives. At that moment, the criminal is thinking only in the term of me and him or her. He thinks that there are different privileges and approaches for him or herself and the victim.

For whatever reason or bull shit, a criminal comes up with, makes him believe that he is supposed to take the life that person and that person must not live anymore. I believe same criminal approach exists on a much larger scale in wars. It happens, when people start thinking in terms of us and them. They stopp believing that the perceived enemy is human, too, just like them. They think that their enemy is a less of human. In their view they have the privileges of eliminating their enemy and the enemy must stop to exist. They do not realize that every person who is killed in this conflict is a human being and most likely has kids, brothers, sisters, mother, father, relatives, neighbors, friends and coworkers. These people will be scared and will carry the wounds, pain and grudge forever. Only difference is that contrary to individual criminal act, the affected people could be in millions or even in billions, in some cases. In addition to this, every war has unavoidable serious psychological, economic and social consequences for both sides. Not just on national level, but on individual, family and community level. When families lose their bread winners, kids who have to grow without a father or mother or both, disabled and /or psychologically traumatized vets with PTSD and other disorders come back home to their families and communities, it causes issues at every possible level and affects everyone in that society, directly or indirectly.

If you realize all these and many other effects and adverse consequences of war and still believe that war has ever solved any problems or can or will solve any in future, then, I have only one thing to say!.................... You must be crazy!! and that is final. I mean, for whatever reason you want to fight war for. Your religion, ideology, country, nation, ethnicity. Why would you do something for which people will always hate that religion, ideology, country, nation or ethnicity. If you really love something, you want to gain good name, love and appreciation for it, not hate.

If you really want to serve your religion, ideology, country, nation or ethnic group, do something good. Something that may be remembered in good words and good deeds. Try to eradicate hunger, provide clean water, fight climate change and pollution, make sure that people have appropriate clothes for weather, they have a place to live, they can get medical care when they are sick, their kids are getting appropriate education so that when they grow up, they are useful for humanity, instead of turning into terrorists. Love is the solution, not hate. Because hate begets hate. Care is the solution not violence. Constructive behavior solves issues not the destruction of war and terrorism. Because every person killed is a human being just like you and me. Don't create artificial divide between human beings. Let them come together, hug each other and love each other. Together we all can do miracles.
