Newyork, NY (prHWY.com) November 22, 2011 - I'm a classic gaming junkie. I really am. While I love all of the new games that keep coming out (huge COD fan here, as well as Little Big Planet), there is nothing I like more than firing up an emulator and kicking back playing some of my 8-bit games that I grew up with, and loved so much. That's why I was completely surprised to find out that my Nintendo 3DS system can actually help feed my classic game addiction, with the help of the R4 3DS.

The R4 3DS, much like the R4 DS Card before it, is a flash card, or homebrew card for the new Nintendo 3DS system. It allows you to load and play homebrew and freeware games, applications, and emulators for pretty much any old game system you can think of - and some you haven't even heard of. It's probably the best purchase I have made for my hand held system, because it allows me to do so much more than just play the regular store bought games that, quite often, end up being disappointing.

And how do I play my NES games on my Nintendo 3DS you may be asking? Okay, let me explain. I won't go into the details of what and emulator is, because a quick search on google for that information will give you all the background and information you could ever want. I play my NES games using an NES emulator for the r4 3ds called nesDS. It's a freeware program, that once loaded, lets me play any one of the thousands of NES roms and games out there. It basically takes your 3DS system, and makes it think that it's an NES system. And let me tell you, having a "portable NES" with me everywhere I go is fantastic.

How can you get your hands on it? It's easy - and it's free. First, you'll need anR4 3DS Card. Once you have that, do a google search for nesDS and you'll get the homepage of the developer.
I won't send you to a page because by the time you read this, it may have already been updated, and you should always get the newest version.

All you have to do now, is copy over the nesDS emulator and the games you want to play to the micro SD card that comes with your r4 3ds. When you plug the r4 into your console and power it up, you'll be greeted by a menu, where you would select GAMES, and then select the nesDS emulator. Once it's loaded up, you'll have a nice easy to use list of all the NES games you have on your micro sd card. That's it. All that's left to do is start gaming, and enjoying some amazing classic games.
