Bubble Hut kicks off multi-tiered school fundraising program

Today Bubble Hut announced it's lunch of it's 2011-2012 school fundraising program.

Today Bubble Hut announced it's lunch of it's 2011-2012 school fundraising program. A continuation of last year's program, this year's program will have multiple approaches to meet the needs of different schools.

Bubble Hut has a standard fundraising approach where schools can distribute catalogs and order forms to students and families. The school will then receive a portion of the total sales. However, Keith and Denaige McDonnell felt this only helped out the school when there was a concerted effort to raise funds.

In 2010, Bubble Hut piloted their "low impact" fundraising with a school in the county of Leduc. The program involved the school distributed a coupon code which allowed buyers to purchase bath and body product at a discount online at www.bubblehut.ca . The coupon code is tracked and a portion of the sales goes toward the school.

"Schools do not need to organize children and parents to acquire orders in a short time with the low impact program. All they need to do is communicate out the coupon code and ask for people to enter it when they buy product online. They can put the code in their school newspapers, websites, or billboards. The buyer gets a discount and the school gets a portion of the sales. Everyone benefits" said Keith McDonnell, Chief Bubble Counter and co-owner of Bubble Hut. "The proceeds that go to the school are definitely less in the short term, but as support and customer base builds the revenue becomes steady and sustainable without much effort."

Denaige McDonnell, founder of Bubble Hut added "We have a daughter and were constantly skeptical about paying inflated prices for chocolates, cookie dough and wrapping paper. We asked why we couldn't sell a good quality product for a discount (instead of an inflated price) and donate a portion to the school. There wasn't much reason not to do it. So we did."
