Nissan plans to release the Leaf for sale in the U.S.

Kansas City, MT (prHWY.com) September 6, 2011 - Nissan North America Inc. has recently announced that the Nissan brand will expand sales of the Nissan Leaf to the United States. Nissan plans to begin with making the Nissan Leaf available in the Southeastern United States and in Illinois, with the intention to expand sales further in the future. Nissan announced that the plan to release the all electric Leaf for sale in the southeast and in Illinois should go into effect by the end of July 2011. Until this point, the Nissan Leaf was available by special order, and approximately 4,000 Leaf cars have made their way to the United States at this time. The Leaf will be released for sale just in time for the winter months, however the Nissan Leaf offers standard cold weather features such as battery warmer and heated seats and steering wheel. The starting price for the Nissan Leaf is $35,250.
