Ocuco releases an Audiology module for Acuitas, their Optical Practice Management software system.
Ocuco recently released a new Audiology module for Acuitas. This module can help to create a new business stream for practices willing to expand into audiology as a complementary service to their optical business.

There is significant crossover between the optical and audiology businesses. Both involve a clinical consultation followed by a fitting and dispense; people's requirement for both services increase with age, yielding a similar patient demographic; optical and audio aids can be integrated into a single device. Furthermore, there appears to be a reticence among people whose hearing is fading to seek assistance. Perhaps it is because audiology centres are often not present on the high street, and hearing aids haven't become a fashion item in the same way as spectacles.
These factors lend themselves to optical practices expanding into this business, both to increase revenues, but equally importantly, to offer this service to their patients improving their quality of life.
So how does Ocuco's Audiology module work? The Audiology module interfaces to a 3rd party software application, NOAH, which links to the clinical audiology equipment.
Once the Audiology module is activated, audiology is incorporated into the dispense, stock, order and catalogue modules of Acuitas, which makes it a relatively seamless transition into this new business line with excellent margins.
