It's lights off for Al Hilal Bank in support of Earth Hour & Abu Dhabi Vision 2030
All branches to go dark on March 23 in solidarity with 7,001 cities around the world
In keeping with its slogan of 'the orange bank that thinks green,' Al Hilal Bank, a progressive Islamic bank, has pledged to switch off the lights in all of its branches and offices starting at 9 pm on March 23, 2013 in celebration of 'Earth Hour.'
Earth Hour was conceptualized by the World Wide Fund for Nature as an annual event for encouraging homes and businesses to turn off their lights for one hour to raise awareness on climate change. This year's edition will be held on March 23, 2013 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. local time with the expected participation of over 7,000 cities around the globe.
Al Hilal Bank will use the event as a platform to reaffirm its sustainability commitments and show its support for the environmental goals included in the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 development plan.

Al Hilal Bank believes that businesses should do more to help address today's most pressing sustainability challenges, which is why we strive to take the lead in participating in meaningful events such as Earth Hour. Abu Dhabi -based Al Hilal Bank has engaged in various initiatives championing the environment under its 'Go Green' strategy, including its launching of 'eGrab,' the world's first electric-powered mobile banking branch, participation in the Emirates Environmental Group's 'Plant A tree' program, and use of digital pen technology to digitize and store documents and data to minimize paper waste..
