Missouri Personal Injury Attorney Firm Backs Ban on Texting & Driving

In Missouri, drivers 21 years of age and younger are not allowed to use handheld devices to send and receive text messages while driving. However, those over 21 are not prevented from doing so because there is currently no ban covering them. House Bill 394, an upcoming measure introduced by Missouri Rep. Michele Kratky, aims to change that.
If this is passed, texting and driving for drivers of all ages will be banned throughout the state. This measure is similar to a previous one introduced by Rep. Kratky last year, but which did not get a hearing.
There are many reasons why people should not text and drive. As noted by Distraction.gov, drivers who text are 23 times more likely to get into automobile crashes than those who pay attention. It also said that 40 percent of teenagers have reported being in vehicles where people were using cell phones behind the wheel.
Tolbert Beadle & Musgrave backs the passage of HB 394. The firm also calls on motorists to stop texting while driving and to lend a hand to people injured in auto accidents due to this habit.
