CWT-SML Logistics opens 12,500 sqm facility in Dubai World Central

Company's second facility in DWC and fourth in UAE to meet growing market demand for specialized logistics services

Dubai World Central (DWC), the world's first purpose-built aerotropolis, has announced the inauguration of CWT-SML Logistics' new 12,500 sqm logistics facility, which provides a full range of logistics services including 3PL, inbound shipment processing, warehousing & distribution, outbound shipment processing, freight services and several other value-added services. The new facility is CWT-SML Logistics' fourth in the UAE and the second in DWC, taking advantage of DWC's integrated infrastructure to further expand the company's core offerings to local and regional businesses in the MENA region.

CWT-SML Logistics' state-of-art handling systems support various industries and are fully monitored by CCTV and intrusion alarms in accordance with stringent local and international regulations and standards. Scheduled to start operation this month, the new facility includes a 4,000-sqm temperature-controlled storage area and an 8,500 sqm ambient storage area. Specifically designed to ensure faster turnaround of cargo, the facility offers highly advanced storage solutions that can also handle bulk cargo. It is also equipped with 24 unloading/loading docks, and security and fire safety systems.

Last year, DWC handled 219,092 tons of air freight, representing a 144 per cent increase from 2012; its first full year of operations. Around 44,052 tonnes of the total volume was transit shipment.
