Queensland, Australia (prHWY.com) March 7, 2013 - There are many diets in existence that people have tried to varying degrees of success. From the Atkins to the South Beach diet, health-conscious fanatics are in for another onslaught with the newest nutritional fad coming in from the shores of England. Conceived in the form of a diet book called "The Fast Diet" (replete with tips and recipes), it pertains to a different meaning of the word 'fast'. The diet decrees that one can eat whatever he/she wishes for five days, and balancing that with two days of fasting.

The collaborative effort of writters Dr. Michael Mosley and Mimi Spencer has already convinced millions of English residents to purchase their book. The UK offshoot of online retailer, Amazon, has reported that "The Fast Diet" has reigned strong at the number one spot in the Books category since its release back in January. A large part of the book's success can be attributed to a TV documentary that Dr. Mosley filmed for BBC, which chronicles his experiment in testing the diet upon himself. Suffice to say, the risk paid off as the documentary special pulled in high ratings for BBC. Not only that, Dr. Mosley was also able to shave off twenty pounds and reported a significant improvement with regards to his cholesterol and glucose levels. The rest is officially history.

Dr. Mosley has credible information to back up his extraordinary breakthrough in the field of nutritional science, given that he has sought assistance with scientific researchers from the United States while filming his BBC documentary on his newfound diet. Mimi Spencer, a lifestyle writer specialising in food and fashion, approached Dr. Mosley about turning his televised success into a cohesive book that people could easily follow. The result birthed "The Fast Diet" which has subsequently captured the attention of the many viewers who tuned in to the BBC documentary and spread the word to their friends and families.

However, the diet that Mosley and Spencer promoted is not without its fair share of detractors. The National Health Service (NHS), the UK's authority on health and medicine, released a statement which expressed their skepticism about the diet's efficacy despite providing actual results. The NHS has also pointed out some undesirable side effects--dehydration, anxiety, irritability-that come with prolonged fasting. However, such professional opinions seem to fall on deaf ears as the general populace is more supportive of the diet's success and doesn't seem to show any signs of slowing down.
