Indore, India (prHWY.com) March 7, 2013 - Key benchmark indices surged as European stocks edged higher. The barometer index, the 30-share S&P BSE Sensex, and the 50-unit CNX Nifty, both, attained their highest closing level in more than two weeks. The market breadth turned positive from negative in late trade. The Sensex jumped 160.93 points or 0.84%, up 200.62 points from the day's low and off 51.98 points from the day's high.

Indian stocks gained for the third straight trading session today, 7 March 2013. The BSE Sensex has risen 535.58 points or 2.84% in three trading days from a recent low of 18,877.96 on 4 March 2013. The Sensex has advanced 552 points or 2.93% in this month so far (till 7 March 2013). The Sensex has declined 13.17 points or 0.07% in calendar 2013 so far (till 7 March 2013). From a 52-week high of 20,203.66 on 29 January 2013, the Sensex has declined 790.12 points or 3.91%. From a 52-week low of 15,748.98 on 4 June 2012, the Sensex has surged 3,664.56 points or 23.27%.

Metal stocks declined as LMEX, a gauge of six metals traded on the London Metal Exchange, dropped 1.04% on Wednesday, 6 March 2013. In auto pack, two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp gained over 4%. In pharma pack, Wockhardt hit record high.

The market sentiment boosted by data showing that foreign funds remained net buyers of Indian stocks on Wednesday, 6 March 2013. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 524.05 crore on Wednesday, 6 March 2013, as per provisional data from the stock exchanges.

European shares edged higher Thursday, 7 March 2013, ahead of monetary-policy decisions from the European Central Bank and the Bank of England. Key benchmark indices in France, Germany and UK rose by 0.34% to 0.53%.

Trading in US index futures indicated that the Dow could gain 32 points at the opening bell on Thursday, 7 March 2013. US stocks edged higher on Wednesday, 6 March 2013, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average hitting another record, after an improvement in a private-payrolls growth and smaller-than-expected drop in factory orders added to optimism for a gradual recovery in the US economy.
