Dublin 2, Ireland (prHWY.com) March 7, 2013 - It seems Irish women are continuing to lead the way in Europe when it comes to giving birth. New figures reported from the ERSI (Economic and Social Research Institute) shows Ireland has the highest birth rate of any of the 27 European Union countries with 74,000 babies being born in the past year. About 33% of last year's newborns were to single mothers, while 40% were to first-time mothers with an average age of 29. (source: RTE News, December 2012).

Ireland exceeds the average EU birth rate of 9.83 births per 1,000 people by some 75 percent, with a birth rate of 16.8 per 1,000. The average woman in Ireland has 2.09 children, compared with 1.6 children for women in the EU as a whole. (source: http://www.ibtimes.com, June 2012)

This population explosion in Ireland is great news for the Irish website http://babycards.ie The company specialises in providing personalised baby cards and invitations for special occasions such as the arrival of a new baby, thank you cards for baby gifts, christening invitations, 1st birthday invitations as well as free baby shower invitations.

"As the population continues to soar, we have seen an increase in sales", says Jane O'Neill, founder of Babycards.ie. "To cater for our increased customer base we have added to our range of products in Ireland. Our baby thank you cards are our most popular category and we have added single and double flat cards to our range as well as postcards. This allows customers with perhaps a more limited budget to be able to still send beautiful quality cards to friends and family which are affordable."

The cards are proudly printed in Ireland on heavy 350sm board so the quality is fantastic. Irish orders are delivered for free within 3-4 days and come with complimentary envelopes.

"Since we started the website in 2004, our customers have been very loyal and have helped us grow the business by spreading the word through their own network", says Jane "and we often see Mums coming back to place orders for subsequent children."

In order to give something back to customers the company has developed their own range of free products which can be personalised online and the artwork downloaded for free. This is a great initiative and one which is welcomed by new parents as having a baby is often an expensive time. Some of the free products available are baby shower invitations, baby scan keepsake cards, kids reward charts and checklists for important events such as planning a christening or knowing what to pack for your stay in hospital.

Irish women have long had more children than their sisters anywhere else in Europe and it seems this is a trend that has proved to be remarkably recession proof (source http://www.irishtimes.com, March 2012). Whilst other areas of the economy may seem to have been hit hard by the recession, it seems Irish women and Babycards.ie are simply blooming.
