Often times there is one full time dedicated person following up on all claims that require further action. Some medical billers believe NMB management is the same as follow-up, others believe NMB management is primarily geared towards dealing with issues around medical necessity. Many medical billing experts simply think as NMB management as a description for the overall billing process.

Health Informatics - Most practice management systems do not properly track NMBs - at least not in the form in which they are typically used (i.e., they may have the capability, but only if properly implemented and used). Those PMs that do track NMBs typically overwhelm the practice with data that is difficult to utilize for high level NMB management.

This increases the revenue coming back to the practice as well as decreases the amount of labor needed to follow-up on claims. Medical Billing Services know that the time spent reviewing claims to make sure they meet the insurance carrier standards is well worth the time.
