The Impossible and Snow White are Top Spanish Films of the Year
Spanish cinema netted €106 million last year - more than ever before.

Meanwhile, Pablo Berger's flamenco and bullfighting version of the Brothers Grimm tale Snow White (Blancanieves), won the prize for best film. Selected to represent Spain at the Oscars, it has had an excellent international reception at film festivals such as San Sebastián.
Spanish cinema continues to display its quality and the calibre of its directors, creating an excellent image for the Marca spain. Almodovar, possibly Spain's best-known director, has been joined by others such as Alejandro Amenábar and Rodrigo Cortés, who have directed films featuring international stars such as Rachel Weisz and Ryan Reynolds.
The movie awards highlighted the troubles of the current economic situation but also showcased the country's creativity in the field of fashion, through the collaboration of the Spanish Association of Fashion Designers. The event was presented by comedian Eva H., who wore seven different dresses by Spanish designers such as Nicholas&Atienza, Amaya Arzuaga, Antonio y Fernando GarcÃa, Juanjo Oliva and Juan Duyos
As every year, the Spanish film festival also looked beyond the country's borders. The best Latin American film was Juan of the Dead, a Cuban zombie movie directed by Alejandro Brugués, while the best European film was The Intouchables, from France. This film has become a true cinematographic phenomenon, which has been nominated for the Baftas, Golden Globes and European Film Awards.
