A delegation of 30 Brazilian companies are currently in the United Arab Emirates as part of the Brazilian Trade Mission to the UAE which opened today (Wednesday, February 20, 2013) at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel - Dubai. During the two-day, multi-industry trade event, the Brazilian companies will be engaged in discussions with importers and trading companies from the UAE and other regional countries, with the underlining goal of enabling Brazilian companies from various sectors to strengthen their presence in the high potential Middle East market by forging partnerships with regional counterparts. H.E. João de Mendonça Lima Neto, Brazilian Ambassador to the UAE inaugurated the Brazilian Trade Mission to the UAE, which is being organized by Apex-Brasil and the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.

A hosted buyer's programme for interested importers and trading companies from the Middle East is one of the highlights of the Trade Mission. Participants will benefit from direct buying opportunities from qualified sellers, while the event will also facilitate various one-to-one meetings that create opportunities to build partnerships and distribution agreements with qualified sellers as well as extending personal network among industry peers.

Another key element of the Brazilian Trade Mission to the UAE is the investment seminars that will be held in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The main topics that will be covered during the seminars include: an overview of the investment scenario in Brazil; key legal issues for investing in Brazil; and an outlook on Brazil's private equity and venture capital industry.

Companies that are part of the Brazilian delegation are highly optimistic about the trade mission. Fernando Reis Costa, from Café Fazenda Caeté, a company that produces ground and roasted coffee in bags, said, "We have very high expectations, as we have been developing work in the Middle East region for months. We believe the potential of the hotel chains in Dubai may be very important, and this will be crucial to the demand for our product in this market."

Sérgio Nunes, who is in charge of sales at Amazônia Energy, a Brazilian company which exports assai and other organic mashed fruit, said, "Our expectation this year is to consolidate contacts that we have already established in the past and extend our network of distributors to other countries. We plan to explore the mashed fruit market for the juice industry and we are keen to set up a structure for storage and thus have merchandise ready for delivery."

Mauricio Borges, president of Apex-Brasil, organiser of the Trade Mission, said: "The previous editions of the trade mission to the UAE have proved extremely vital in helping Brazilian companies forge key partnerships with importers and trading companies in the Middle East and we expect the same this year as well. While on the one hand this event enables Brazilian firms to consolidate their presence in major exporting markets, open up new markets for Brazilian products and services, and also attract foreign investments into Brazil, on the other, it presents an opportunity for regional importers and traders to form partnerships and distribution agreements with qualified Brazilian partners and close deals with key suppliers."

Prior to their arrival in the UAE, the Brazilian delegation was in Saudi Arabia were they held a business meeting in Jeddah, which was be attended by companies from key sectors including food & beverage, housing and construction, machinery & equipment and auto parts.
