Brooklyn, NY (prHWY.com) February 12, 2013 - New York City is one of the most populated cities in the world. The sheer volume of people, bikes and cars makes getting around town a little bit difficult for most people living there. Albert Cyprys realized that by skateboarding around town instead of walking, driving or whatever other transportation option he chose to exhaust, he could navigate the crowded streets of New York City with more ease than usual.

Skateboards are not expensive and pretty easy to ride. After a few short days of practice, the average person would easily be able to ride a skateboard around their town. Imagine living in a town where "rush hour" means you can't travel anywhere by car for 2-5 hours during the day. Cities that would be a good example of this include: Atlanta, Georgia, Washington D.C., New York City (obviously), and Los Angeles, California. Albert Cyprys says he "enjoys the freedom of a skateboard much more than the freedom of a car." If you become a skilled enough skateboarder, there is virtually no limit to where you can go.

One technique for skateboarding that Albert Cyprys finds useful is known as "skitching." "Skitching" involves getting on a skateboard as you normally would, then instead of pushing with your feet to power yourself, the rider just grabs onto the back of a moving vehicle and attains movement through this way. It is definitely not the safest way to skateboard, and a helmet and full body pads are encouraged when practicing this method of skateboard, but the travel time is drastically reduced.

Albert Cyprys spends some of his time skateboarding through the five crowded boroughs of New York City. He enjoys grinding on handrails. Grinding is a skateboarding practice where the rider kicks the board into the air, while remaining in complete control of the board, and then lands on a railing or ledge and continues to slide down the railing or ledge. It is an advanced technique that beginning skateboarders should practice with caution. However, once the technique is mastered, as Albert Cyprys has done, you will be able to ride just about anywhere you please in a crowded, urban environment.
