World Cup 2010 - The Aftermath of a Fancy Dress Party
Fancy dress again has proved to be focal point for many of the football fans from across the world in South Africa. Whilst results and decisions may have been against their respected national teams, the party atmosphere regardless, was never in doubt

Fancy dress again has proved to be focal point for many of the football fans from across the world in South Africa. Whilst results and decisions may have been against their respected national teams, the party atmosphere regardless, was never in doubt. From St. George crusader suits, to German Bavarian costumes, and Mexican sombrero's ensured the football atmosphere would be a fancy dress one.
This apparent demand in fancy dress costumes from the beginning of the tournament in June 2010, can be highlighted by Ace Fancy Dress who saw a massive 36% surge in sales for St. George themed costumes alone, compared to that of June 2009. General manager Phil Robson added 'Our customers have been magnificent, with the demand on national and football themed costumes and accessories far greater than we anticipated, it is only a shame the England national team did not do better in the tournament itself!'
Fancy dress only a few years ago was seen by many as another Americanised influence used to solely celebrate Halloween, now, as you can see, fancy dress has not only taken over the biggest sporting event on the planet, but is an essential attire for the majority of festivities across the country from Christmas parties, to St. Patrick's day.
