Sacramento, CA (prHWY.com) April 28, 2011 - Potential Cost Increase of 30% Tied to Court Case

The court case Azusa Land Partners v. Department of Industrial Relations subjects all project approvals to a prevailing wage requirement. This means that all projects with CFD's now must pay prevailing wages for all conditions of approval, not just those funded with public money. This case, from late 2010, will have far reaching impacts in the development and home building industries.

To better understand the implications of this decision, the BIA's Regional Builder/Developer Council will be holding a special meeting on Friday May 13th from 10:00 am to Noon to educate our members on the impacts of this decision. In addition, we will be exploring ways in which local governments might be able mitigate this requirement.

Our guest speakers will be Richard Lyon, CBIA's Senior vice President. Nick Cammarota, CBIA's General Council and Chris Austin, Managing Principal with Development Planning & Financing Group, Inc.
