Kevin V. Cato Awarded Engineer of the Year for Work at Honda of America
Kevin V. Cato began his career at Honda of America with a great deal of success. He was awarded the Engineer of the Year award for his work in solving a problem with inspection of rotor hub assemblies.

The hard work paid off one year when he won the Engineer of the Year contest in 1990. He designed and patented an automated torque checker that eliminated the requirement to manually inspect rotor hub assemblies. This device helped improve Honda's assembly system and earned Kevin V. Cato the respect of his colleagues. Because of this success, Kevin V. Cato was promoted to the position of Engineer Coordinator and began a strong career with Honda that helped to launch his professional career.
Honda has been the largest car and motorcycle manufacturing company in the world since 1959. The company spans multiple countries and employs over 175,000 people around the globe. Honda has a strong presence in the US and Japan. They have since branched out into technology and other industries after their initial success in automotives.
Asked about the device and his award, Kevin V. Cato remarked, "I worked very hard on this device; we really needed something to solve this problem and all of the engineers were challenging themselves to come up with something. When I was chosen I remember feeling incredibly happy to win the award." Kevin V. Cato is no longer working with Honda but he stayed with the company for seven years.
