Five Ways to Remedy Dry Winter Skin
Winter weather brings to mind blissful thoughts of hot cocoa, pumpkin-flavored everything, lazy snowflakes and the hustle and bustle of the holidays.

Keep the Air Moist
One of the reasons that we tend to have drier skin in the winter is that there is less humidity and less water particles in the air during the colder months. To make up for the dryness, set up a humidified in your home or office to replenish some of the moisture in the air.
Keep Your Hands Clean
Doctors recommend frequent hand washing, especially during cold weather, since cold and flu germs are more easily spread in the winter. However, washing your hands frequently with harsh soaps causes them to dry out quickly. When you wash your hands (after using the restroom, before eating and after touching frequently-used items like door handles and keyboards), use a small amount of moisturizing hand soap or hand sanitizer (one that doesn't contain alcohol, if possible). Scrub up with lukewarm water instead of hot or cold water for the least-drying experience possible.
Keep The Cream Nearby
Keep a good, potent moisturizing cream by your desk, by your bed, in the car, in your vanity -- wherever is convenient, because you'll want to apply it multiple times per day. Lotion up upon exiting the bath or shower while pores are the most open, so moisturizers are best absorbed. Also apply skin lotions every time you wash your hands, and before you go to sleep at night.
Keep Your Socks On
Before you go to sleep, focus on the parts of your body that need the thickest creams -- heels, hands and elbows are the most common. Apply your hydrating cream, then put on socks or sleeping gloves to lock in the moisture. Don't forget to use a face moisturizer after you remove your makeup and before you fall into bed.
Keep The Loofah Close
Exfoliate at least once a week in order to slough off the dead skin and allow the healthy, new skin cells to glow. Hop in the shower, grab a loofah and some body scrub, and rub the scrub in gentle circles all over your body. Don't forget your back -- you may need to get a loofah or body pouf with a long handle so you can reach it. After you dry off apply your natural skin cream -- with the rough skin and callouses gone, moisturizers can penetrate better.
